This is Veronica or God as proclaimed by Jens. I finally found this place and would have to say that London was a very enlightening trip. I'm not a fan of film scores per se, but I like Jerry Goldsmith(in relation to trek).
I will add to the tale that involved Jens, Inge and I.
-getting lost in chelsea which resulted in walking for over an hour at 1am in the morning before being able to hail a cab.
-Almost getting roughed up by the london police on account of Jens' loud comment about the police when said police are standing in front of us.
Had lots of fun and it was great getting to meet Jens' friends.

getting lost in chelsea which resulted in walking for over an hour at 1am in the morning before being able to hail a cab. Ah yes, thanks to brilliant Inge "I know exactly where we are, this is where I got out last time" Christensen. Still, I didn't mind it, really. The exercise did me good. Almost getting roughed up by the london police on account of Jens' loud comment about the police when said police are standing in front of us. Yup, typical loudmouth American behaviour from me there. "Jaywalking in front of the police... this would not stand where I come from!" Famous last words.

Hey Jon & Ami Hey Emily, How was the plane ride back? Yup, typical loudmouth American behaviour from me there. "Jaywalking in front of the police... this would not stand where I come from!" Famous last words. Yeah well you two definately got out of the line of fire pretty quickly when he asked if we were Americans. "I'm German", "I'm Danish". I could have been arrested because of you.

Even after all these years, I still find it difficult to believe that there's no actual laws against jaywalking in Britain. Crosswalks and traffic lights are apparently merely considered "friendly suggestions".

Anyway, I thought your subjects had free-will, and I thought you were fan of wine, especially considering the miracle and all. I hope that next time, you'll give Jens the keys... _Carlton

Even after all these years, I still find it difficult to believe that there's no actual laws against jaywalking in Britain. Crosswalks and traffic lights are apparently merely considered "friendly suggestions". I think it's more of a case that our Government considers (most of) us intelligent enough to be able to cross the road without getting splattered across the asphalt, without actually making it illegal. Then again, America is the world leader when it comes to bizarre laws. Did you know it is illegal to chain an alligator to a fire hydrant in Michigan? Or that it is against the law to whale hunt in Oklahoma? Admittedly, both these things are highly unlikely occurrences, but nevertheless they do exist in statute... I think we Brits have got the right idea

Hi, Veronica! Perchance one day I will have the pleasure of meeting you and a group of us can dine on Spaetzle a l'Alsacienne at the French bistro Café Alsace in the City of Decatur together. Yes...wherever Jens may be, wherever life may take him, he has the unique ability to spout erudite platitudes and evangelistic critiques so that all may hear the wisdom of his years. For example, I never knew I was so incredibly inept in selecting a DVD in a video rental store until I met Jens. The other customers didn't, either. WIFE TO HUSBAND: "Dear, tonight I simply want to watch something very relaxing and enjoyable - nothing too heavy." HUSBAND TO WIFE: "IMBECILE! WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU WANT TO RENT THAT? THE CHARMING ENGLISH GENTLEMAN SAID IT WAS PAP - WHY DON'T YOU LISTEN? WHY, RASPUTIN HIMSELF HASN"T HAD THIS MUCH INFLUENCE ON ME! FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I FEEL AS CLEAR® AS TOM CRUISE!" WIFE TO HUSBAND: "But dear - I'm not so sure his recommendation would be age-appropriate for little Lucretia and our boy, Tonnage." JENS: "YOU ARE UTTER FOOLS IF YOU DO NOT HEED MY RECOMMENDATIONS! I MYSELF, HAVE SEEN Sideways[/b] 1,256 TIMES AND I HAVE YET TO TIRE OF IT! IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE - FOREVER!" Still feeling the hot acrid breath of Critical Parent - the unsuspecting little family with toddlers meekly grab up a copy of The Care Bears Movie, carefully tuck it under a copy of Sideways, quickly make their way to the rental check-out counter - all the while constantly looking o'er their shoulders for the looming, ominous and imposing figure that has bellowed its way into their innocent - yet wildly misguided - bi-weekly DVD rental excursion and run - visably shaken and yet extremely vigilant - from the video store in abject horror. "AH! YOU HAVE MADE A WISE AND EDUCATED SELECTION! KAITLIN AND TONNAGE WILL ESPECIALLY APPRECIATE THE ALLEGORICAL AND HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF YOUR THOUGHTFUL CONSIDERATION!" Children are safely strapped in, Mini-vans doors are tightly shut, van windows are quickly shuttered, and the little family sighs - they have finally escaped the terror of The Fundamentalist DVD Critic... but yet the lingering horror expressed in their Dakota Fanning-eyes logically explains the sudden piercing shreik of a Mini-van burning rubber in the video rental parking lot. "WAIT! WAIT! I JUST HAPPEN TO HAVE EXTRA JACK CHICK TRACTS ON ME! YOU ARE NOTHING WITHOUT THESE! AND THEY GO PARTICULARILY WELL WITH SLIGHTLY CHILLED PINOT NOIR AND BITS OF FINE BRIE!" Me: quietly - as one would talk to a troubled person: "Jens - methinks your blood sugar is a tad low- whatsay we partake of a bit of smoked salmon and nibbly things, hm? Does that please thee?" Grunting sadly, Igor - I mean, Jens - meekly saunters over to the vehicle, and quietly enters the baggage containment area without resistance. For he - albeit rather sanguinely - seems to comprehend his next stop will be yet another opportunity to extol unto those within a 500-yard radius - the marvelous virtues of Pinot Noir. And thus - another potential victory in the life of our dear, irrepressible Jens. Ah. The Persistance of Vision.

Yeah . . .
This is why I'm more a beer man, myself.
In all fairness to Jens, though, I don't care HOW old you are -- if it's a choice between The Care Bears Movie and Sideways, I'd go with Sideways. Any movie whose principle assumption (that owning a quasi-communist floating fortress of zealot plushies hidden somewhere amongst the clouds) rests upon the Carol King observation that: "It's . . . not bad" ~ is, indeed, anything but good.
I should know... I saw the film... when I was 5 or 6... in the CINEMA. And this is how I turned out the way I am today. Other Gen Xers could do well to learn from my parents' mistake.
***sighs***
"Care-a-Lot . . . it's . . . NOT BAD."
***shudders***
WORST LYRICS EVER.

Yes...wherever Jens may be, wherever life may take him, he has the unique ability to spout erudite platitudes and evangelistic critiques bla bla inept bla imbecile bla bla Rasputin bla Lucretia & Tonnage bla bla hot acrid breath bla rental excursion bla bla abject horror bla allegorical and historical significance bla bla bla... Dear Mark, I'm afraid that due to your unfortuate preference for circumlocutory rather than forthright expression, I could, even after carefully and repeatedly examining your wearisome and, dare I say, Carltonesque ramblings, not make out your point. I also suggest you rethink your use of inverted commas. Breaking up consecutive statements by the same speaker is not only unnecessary, but also rather confusing. Addendum: Oh, and you've misspelled "Spaetzle a l'Asacienne".

Dear Mark...I could...not make out your point. Then read it again. It's a silly story, Jens. It's not an exercise in "forthright expression". Better to circumvent a few sentences improperly than ones' entire life, you think? I can dumb it down a bit, if need be. Oh, and you've misspelled Asacienne.Just as you have misspelled the most important and meaningful word of your post: unfortunate.

I can dumb it down a bit, if need be. I think Jens in saying that you should circumvent a few more words. I, myself, had no problem with your post. ;D Yes...wherever Jens may be, wherever life may take him, he has the unique ability to spout erudite platitudes and evangelistic critiques so that all may hear the wisdom of his years. Is this really a compliment? Jens is just another evangelizing Jesus. He doeth "So that 'seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted" It sounds like your saying that Jens is just another bloviating pedant. I can dumb it down a bit, if need be. There is beauty in simplification. There is also intelligence in simplification. Dumb it down, and you will prove your beauty and your intelligence -Carlton
