Yes, I'm coming to England... London specifically. I'll be in town from early Sunday 20th May until late Sunday 27th May. There must be a way to meet some of our UK-based posters? If interested, email me at: mclennan.michael(at)gmail.com

Darn it darn it darn it. Why couldn't you come to England when *I* still lived there? Now you'll have to make do with Southall and his peculiar pizza-eating habits.

I know, I know... The fact that Movie Music UK is now an off-shore company is some cause of dismay - it would have been nice to meet. (Even more unfortunate is David Wishart's recent passing - I would have loved to have met him.)
PS. What kind of food should one really be taking advantage of in London? Is it renowned for its pizza?

Fish 'n chips. And curry.

I'll be there (in body if not in spirit), displaying my pizza-eating prowess for all to see.
London has any type of food you could think of. If you want to eat anything which doesn't require you to take out a loan secured on your house, however, Peter's options are probably the best.

The following hours shall include food, drink and good conversation. Indeed they will - just not for us!

Pizza would be great!!
James, wasn't a pizza place off Trafalgar Square one of the eateries visited the previous time we met up?

I think you might be right - it seems like ages and ages ago. Was that for the LOTR symphony? Or maybe for Fenton's Planet Earth thing? Either way it must be three years ago (or more)?

I remember the three (or more) of us sitting in an underground bunker transformed into a coffee shop off Trafalgar Square, underneath the steps by the National Gallery. I think it was the LOTR Shore symphony, because we all hung around after the lecture Shore gave at the Royal College of Music, and got harangued by Rudy Koppl!

I'd forgotten the underground bunker of a coffee shop that served superheated coffee!! And it was the LOTR symphony - I had just come down to London for the Howard Shore Q&A session (and signing) the day before the concert and was planning to head home the following day. But after meeting up with you Jon, and Christian and Peter at the Q&A I think that I had managed to muscle in on your plans for the next day. And, although I had already seen the Symphony, all the film music talk that took place that day got me rushing to the Festival Hall looking for any ticket returns for the concert. Luckily I got a ticket and had another opportunity to hear the piece. I don't think I ever thanked you guys!! Thanks!

Ah, the old days...
Student life in Southampton...
All-you-could-eat pizza on Charing Cross Road (well, it was a step-up from Mr. Wu) ...
45 Dean Street...
Sitting on the Metropolitan Line with Jonathan (staring at the face of the driver as the train came towards us)...
Geoff's anti-smoking campaign (*cough*..."SMOKER!"...*cough*)...
Who, of course, could forget the price of a London Underground travelcard back then? Folks didn't need to swipe a Black Amex over the Oyster domes for a single journey...
And why is it that, even to this day, Tara still shouts "Don Black!" at me?
Well, I am looking forward to meeting with you guys on the 24th. Frankly, it's been a bloody long time and I am sad that Jon can't be with us (Hey-hey! The last time I saw him was over breakfast with his wife and it's not what you think!), but that just means they'll be more pizza to go around! being London, the slices will probably have been going around all day from plate to plate, anyway.
So, is there a rite of passage that Antipodeans have to go through in order to be accepted in a law-abiding society on the 24th?
- Do we check for manacle marks? - Do we ask Michael if he'll renounce John Howard? - Do we leave him in The Cinema Store after shouting "CUSTOMER!" and locking the door from the outside?
I'll be bringing goodies, I'm sure. Do folks here prefer DVDs or CDs?

We should ask Clicktrack for his own thoughts on LOTR Symphony while we're there.
