This is too bad, especially considering some of the things I've heard about Elfman's score. I don't suppose it could get released anyway?

Yeah I started a similar post spreading the damned news over at Filmtracks. This is a tragedy of the highest and most despicable order.
Apparently it's a Timeline situation. Endless recutting of the film needs endless new recording and Elfman doesn't have time for it anymore, so he walked off the project even after writing and recording an entire score for the dashed pic. Hopefully we get a chance to hear it eventually, I was practically DYING to hear a new gothic horror score by Elfman.
Dammit.

I was practically DYING to hear a new gothic horror score by Elfman. YES. I was so excited for this...and now I don't even want to see the film. This is really a shame. All we can hope for is an album at some point...

I would have loved to have Wolfman music by Elfman!

Yeah, it's bad enough Elfman is rejected, but seriously...Paul Haslinger?

Actually he never wrote and recorded an "entire" score.... Ahh, well. My bad. But he *did* record. And those recordings are all I care about at this point. Need to hear 'em!

How was the music? Be as general as you like, but I'm insatiably curious about this rejected score now.

How was the music? Be as general as you like, but I'm insatiably curious about this rejected score now. Think of Elfman's own Kilar's Bram Stoker Dracula. Obviously this film has problems. And it isn't with Elfman's score. Its had several writer and director changes before production, several reshoots, and several release date changes. Another case of the higher ups not liking the film and thinking the only thing left they can try and change this late in the game is the music. I REALLY hope someone has the brains to release what Elfman recorded. Joe

Reports coming from Film Score Monthly today are saying that Elfman's score has been reinstated.
